In Kerala anyone can contract COVID-19 from anyone: K. K. Shailaja
Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister K. K. Shailaja warned that anyone in Kerala can contract COVID-19 from anyone. She alerted that the state is going through a critical phase of the pandemic spread. The Minister was addressing the media after examining the facilities arranged at the COVID First-Line Treatment Centre established in Karyavattom Greenfield stadium.
Tourism Minister Kadkampally Surendran and Thiruvananthapuram corporation mayor K. Sreekumar also accompanied the Health Minister.
“Government is establishing first-line treatment centres in view of the rapid rise in the number of COVID-19 patients. If people are not vigilant in preventing the disease now, more people will turn COVID-19 positive. So, treatment centres will not be sufficient for all. Everyone must strictly maintain social distancing, wear masks and wash hands with soap or sanitizer frequently. We must be more careful to avoid forming more clusters of the disease,” said Shailaja.
The Health Minister reminded that only 10 percent people have contracted the disease through contact in the initial phase of third stage of COVID-19. She added that if we neglect the seriousness of the diseases, our life will be in danger.
She informed that the first-line treatment centre at Karyavattom is all set to accommodate patients. She appealed to the public to help such centres in the time of crisis and sought cooperation to prevent the disease.
COVID First-Line Treatment Centres are public health centres specially established to prevent COVID-19. if the number of cases go up, these centres are opened to ensure medical care to all patients without affecting the operation of the public health system.
