Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Women’s Commission Chief P Sathidevi said that in-depth analysis of women’s life is a need. She said his in connection with International women's day celebrated on March 8. According to Sathidevi, discrimination and deprivation of rights is still prevailing in each and every phase of women’s life. Sathidevi pointed out that we have not yet implemented women safety laws, including safe workplace and equal pay in a fruitful manner.
Commenting on domestic violence faced by women, Sathidevi said that nowadays attempts are happening not to counter it, but to bring amendments that dilute the related laws. She said that there is an accusation that police system supposed to ensure legal procedures has lapses. However, she cited a survey report by Washington headquartered Pew Research Center, which says unlike many other states, Kerala has progressive views about gender equality.
