Thiruvananthapuram: Minister MB Rajesh directed the local self government bodies to impose a special tax for waste management from the residents who refrain from giving away user fees for Haritha Karma Sena workers for waste collection.

The minister alleged that certain people are propagating to not dispense the user fees. Severe action will follow if any lapses were found in the implementation of Waste Management Rules, warned the minister.

MB Rajesh assured that 10 solid waste treatment plants will start functioning in Kerala within May 31. He said that the people who hinder the establishment of waste treatment plants with hidden motives will be confronted without any compromise.
