IMD warns of heavy rainfall in state; Yellow alert declared in 10 districts

Yellow alert has been declared in 10 districts including Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts on Friday.

Thiruvananthapuram: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rain in the state for the next five days. Yellow alert has been declared in several districts.

Yellow alert has been declared in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts on Friday.

Yellow alert has been sounded in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts on October 10 and Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts on October 11.

A low pressure has been formed in Bay of Bengal, near Andaman Islands, on Friday. It is likely that this would intensify in the next 24 hours. It is in this context that IMD informed of the possibility of heavy rainfall in central and northern Kerala.
