Thiruvananthapuram: India Meteorological Department has forecast torrential rainfall with thunder and lightning till July 9 in view of the intensifying western and south western winds in the Arabian sea. Isolated heavy rains is expected all over the state.

The monsoon trough has been shifted to southward direction due to the low pressure area formed over central Gujarat and nearby regions.

The heavy wind has been caused by the combined effect of low pressure trough extending from Gujarat coast to Maharashtra coast and the cyclonic formation in the Bay of Bengal.
