The District Geologist Rajeev said that the department has not received any complaints about illegal mining. Action will be taken if a complaint is registered, he said. Mallapalli Tehsildar P R Prasad said that even though revenue inspection squads have been set up to check illegal mining, the police department has never given the adequate amount of support, thus making the system ineffective.
He also added that if inspections could be held at night the illegal mining can be checked effectively. The Koyipram SI Praiju said that no such illegal mining has come into the notice of the police so far. Action will be taken if complaints come in, he added.
