Regional Cancer Centre in TVM, DR Anil
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM activists and relatives are reportedly getting appointed in temporary vacancies in Regional Cancer Centre illegally, in the pretext of Kudumbashree district mission, which has no powers to make such appointments. As many as 320 persons, who obtained appointments, are ineligible for the posts they occupy.
The backdoor appointments proceeded under councillor DR Anil, who was also part of the letter controversy in Thiruvananthapuram corporation. DR Anil is the councillor of the Medical College ward, where the RCC, SAT and Govt Medical College Hospital are located. The party state secretariat has also received complaints regarding the illegitimate appointments carried out in RCC.
RCC dispenses over Rs 50 lakh monthly to Kudumbashree solely for distributing salary to those serving in different posts. Appointments were conducted via Kudumbashree to the posts of biomedical engineer, nursing assistant, patient guide, pharmacist, lab technician, plumber, electrician, lift operator, receptionist, employees at oxygen plant, radiation department and sanitation workers. The inexperienced persons were employed in each department after providing training for two days.
The appointments even to technical posts were carried out with the backing of directives to appoint temporary cleaning staff via Kudumbashree.
