Thiruvananthapuram: State police chief Loknath Behera has issued an order handing over the Kadakkavoor Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case to IG Harshita Attaluri. The IG will investigate into the allegations made in connection with the case.
A woman was arrested following a complaint that she sexually abused her son. She has been remanded.
The arrest was recorded based on the secret statement of her son. Following this, the woman’s relatives came out against her husband. They said that the case was fake and that the complaint was registered over family disputes. The woman’s relatives have formed an action council too. However, her husband is firm on his complaint.
Meanwhile, Child Welfare Committee (CWC) chairperson Adv N Sunanda had stated that there were lapses on the part of the police in preparing the FIR in the case. She added that it was not right to give her name as the informer and that she did not want to respond on the case.
When the police prepared the FIR, Sunanda’s name was given as the informer. However, Sunanda denied this and said that she did not inform them in this regard. CWC never hands over such complaints to police and there are lapses on their part, she stated.
The police produced the child in front of CWC only for counselling after getting the complaint and the child was given counselling only. The CWC has not filed any complaint nor did it inform the police about the incident, Sunanda made it clear.
