The minister asked if Laya, who holds Rank 583, expects to get a job even if the list was extended for 10 years. He also asked the candidates if they are acting as tool of the political opponents to tarnish the image of the government.

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister Kadakampally Surendran said that if the job candidates who met with him were mentally hurt, it was because they were feeling guilty inside. He added that he could see guilt on the face of the candidates after holding talks with them.

A few representatives of the job candidates who are protesting in front of the secretariat had held talks with Kadakampally Surendran on Monday morning. Three candidates including Laya Rajesh and Riju had participated in the discussion. But they later said that the minister’s approach shocked them. The minister was responding to this.

The minister asked if Laya, who holds Rank 583 in the Last Grade rank list, expects to get a job even if the list was extended for 10 years. He also asked the candidates if they are acting as tool of the political opponents to tarnish the image of the government. Following this, the candidates said that they are shocked to know his reaction.

Kadakampally Surendran later said that he talked with the job candidates not considering them as members of any organisation. He pointed out that government did only good things. ‘If my words hurt the candidates, it is because they have guilty feeling inside,’ he said.

Was there any incident where PSC rank list was cancelled without single appointment or where all candidates were appointed. People are appointed according to availability of vacancies. I asked them whether they think what they are currently doing is right, the minister said.

The guilty feeling for protesting against a good government might have hurt them. They might be feeling that they were used as puppets by Youth Congress and BJP. That’s why they feel sad. The candidates did not seek permission to meet me and I did not invite them too, the minister added.
