Thiruvananthapuram: Will K T Jaleel, who was forced to resign after the Lokayuktha came down heavily on him with nepotism charges, make it to the Pinarayi 2.0 cabinet as minister? Questions are still being raised on Jaleel’s entry into the Pinarayi cabinet for the second time.
If the CPM does not want to include K T Jaleel, he may be considered for the Speaker’s post. If the party decides to isolate him, then Tanur MLA V Abdurahman may be considered as a representative of the Muslim community from Malappuram.
The CPM had tried to strengthen the front’s influence in Malappuram by making K T Jaleel, a representative from Malappuram, as minister. The Left had won 4 seats from the region and was able to reduce the victory margin in many League dominated pockets. Hence just like Jaleel, the Left plans to bring in a MLA from Malappuram into its ministerial fold.
Last time Abdurahman had defeated Abdurahman Randathani in Tanur and this time it was Youth League leader P K Firos. Giving importance to CITU union, senior leader from Ponnani P Nandakumar may also be considered.
When Jaleel was made minister last time, Ponnani MLA P Sreeramakrishnan became the speaker. Alappuzha MLA P P Chitharanjan’s name may also come up considering that he is a CITU man. The name of Nandakumar may not be considered then.
