If anyone can't bear criticism, it is better they stay away from Assembly: MM Mani

Thodupuzha: Udumbanchola MLA and former minister MM Mani on Friday said that he has said nothing indecent in the Assembly and there is no need to withdraw his statement against opposition MLA KK Rema.

Any representative is bound to hear criticism. If someone can't bear it, it is better that they do not come to the Assembly. I said that it was her fate that she is a widow. There is nothing wrong in it, Mani told the mediapersons here.

He added that Rema won from the Vadakara constituency because LDF gave the seat to Janata Dal. Otherwise (if CPM had contested) she would not have been elected, he claimed.

Mani's statement in the Assembly on Thursday caused a huge uproar in the Assembly. Opposition demanded his apology. They continued the protest on Friday as well. Though Mani said he will withdraw the comment if the leadership asks, CPM state secretary on Friday clarified that the party would not do that.
