I-T dept's inspection at KIIFB headquarters; finance minsters calls it hooliganism
Thiruvananthapuram: The Income Tax Department carried out an inspection at the headquarters of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) here. The I-T officials collected all documents which they had asked earlier from KIIFB office. About 15 I-T officials reached KIIFB headquarters on Thursday afternoon to receive the documents.
KIIFB handed over details of their projects implemented in the last five years, amount handed over to contractors and tax details of the amount received from various contractors. The I-T department had served a notice to KIIFB directing them to hand over the documents before March 25.
Meanwhile, finance minister Dr Thomas Isaac said that the I-T department is showing hooliganism. All details asked by them were given. They are trying to defame KIIFB. These dramas informing the media in advance should be stopped, the minister demanded.
Earlier, finance minister Dr Thomas Isaac had informed that KIIFB is willing to provide all information asked by the I-T officials. He also alleged that the I-T department’s move when election is round the corner is suspicious as they did not initiate any probe in the last 5 years.
