Thiruvananthapuram: War of words ensued between PT Thomas and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the gold smuggling case during the Assembly session on Thursday.

PT Thomas raised allegations against the Chief Minister after filing a notice for an adjournment motion. However, the CM responded by calling himself a ‘special genus’ and that he will not become an underworld leader if the opposition curses him to be.

PT Thomas MLA raised allegations against the Chief Minister and his family members regarding the gold smuggling case. The CM responded that Swapna Suresh did not visit his residence on the eve of his daughter’s wedding and that none of his family members were interrogated by the agencies.

The CM also stated that no one should try to intimidate communists by showing jails. There have been several such attempts in the past. The CM also added that he did not bow down before anyone even when there were attempts to break his spinal cord during the emergency period.

Pinarayi Vijayan also tried to remind the opposition that there were attempts to trap him in several cases in the past as well. However, those cases were dismissed by the court.

The CM further added that the Opposition’ s desire to trap him in a UAPA case will remain a desire and that it was not the PR agencies that made him the Pinarayi Vijayan of today.

The Speaker denied permission for the adjournment motion following the Chief Minister’s response to the Opposition.
