Hundreds of nurses gather around; DMO stops interview at Kottayam COVID hospital


District hospital is functioning as the COVID hospital in Kottayam. However, there are no patients at the hospital at present.

Kottayam: The District Medical Officer (DMO) directed to stop the interview of nurses in Kottayam district hospital that was held without following the COVID protocols. The DMO ordered in this regard as hundreds of nurses gathered at the hospital without maintaining social distance.

District hospital is functioning as the COVID hospital in Kottayam. However, there are no patients at the hospital at present. As the long queue of candidates stretched to the road, even ambulances could not enter the hospital compound. When police arrived at the place on knowing about the incident, they only tried to clear the traffic.

The interview was conducted to a temporary post for one month. There were 21 vacancies, but nobody expected such a huge turnout, said DMO Jacob Varghese. He also said that he directed to stop the interview procedures.

The nurses who arrived to attend the interview said the officials informed that the interview will be conducted via online.
