Human trafficking: Key conspirator absconds to TN; probe strengthened
Kochi: Police and national agencies have strengthened the probe relating to the incident of human trafficking from Munambam. The inquiry has been intensified concentrating on Tamil Nadu suspecting that chief conspirator Srikanthan has absconded to the state.
Police and the agencies have questioned the middleman in trafficking, Prabhu Dandapani. The national agencies are taking interest in the case to gain more information on human trafficking rackets.
Police have recorded the detailed statement of Dandapani who was taken in custody in Delhi. According to his statement, Srikanthan absconded to some foreign country. But police have not taken this claim fully into confidence.
At the same time, police launched search operations for Srikanthan in Tamil Nadu including Sri Lankan refugee camps. Aid from foreign agencies also have been sought.
According to police the group that set off from Munambam has reached Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Mathrubhumi News obtained the visuals of the Dayamatha boat, in which around 200 persons have been trafficked from Kochi. The visuals of the boat are while engaged in fishing at Munambam. This fishing boat was brought to traffic the people to abroad.
