Pathanamthitta: The double murder in Elanthoor remains largely shrouded in mystery despite Kerala Police nabbing all accused in the case. According to Police, the accused was planning to murder more people in the name of human sacrifice, to achieve prosperity and financial success.
During questioning, the accused revealed they tried to murder two other women, one helper who attended to their house chores and the other being a lottery seller in Pathanamthitta.
The lottery seller escaped when the accused was trying to restrain her. The other woman was a Pandalam native who escaped from the house after the couple tried to strike up a sexual conversation with her.
Further, the accused revealed that they approached several people and tried to lure them to the residence of Bhagval Singh and his wife Laila. Shafi, the prime accused in the case, tempted a lottery seller in Pathanamthitta to visit the couple's house by buying all tickets. She was offered a salary of Rs 10,000 and was given Rs 1000 on her first day at work. On the second day, the couple invited her to the house and tried to restrain her to a bed. However, she managed to escape and fled from the residence with the help of a friend.
It is learned that Police have collected the statement of the woman and are examing whether any similar cases had happened in the case.
