Thiruvananthapuram: A portion of Kattakkada-Neyyar dam road caved in creating a deep crater on Sunday. The public is shocked after finding the crater on the road near Veeranakkavu bridge.
The PWD has been facing strong criticism over the poor condition of the road in the district. Amidst this, the Kattakkada-Neyyar dam road which was constructed spending crores collapsed.
The natives alleged that the unscientific repair works on the road following the pipeline work resulted in the formation of the crater here.
The road collapsed for many years. A few weeks back, PWD initiated tarring works on this road. But within a short time, the road caved in and a crater formed.
According to reports, a person can easily enter the crater. The natives stated that the crater is posing threat to motorists as well as pedestrians.
