Kochi: Police have arrested two individuals for allegedly honey trapping and extorting money from a doctor in Kochi.

Idukki native Muhammad Ameen and Tamil Nadu native Nazriya are the ones arrested.

According to police, Ameen and Nazriya got acquainted three months ago, following which the duo hatched a plan to trap the doctor.

Nazriya got acquainted with the doctor through online chatting and became friends. The woman called up the doctor to her house under the pretext of taking treatment from him. When he arrived at her house on April 5, Ameen joined them. Ameen captured the visuals of Nazriya and the doctor on his phone.

Later, Ameen blackmailed the doctor into circulating the visuals and demanded Rs 45,000. The duo took away the doctor’s car too. The next day the accused approached the doctor gain. They demanded Rs 5 lakh and returned his vehicle. The duo continued to demand money.

The doctor approached the police and a case on the matter was registered on April 15. The arrest comes after a probe based on their mobile network activity.
