Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala said that the report submitted by Home Secretary stating that the findings in the Comptroller and Auditor General report, is ridiculous as Crime Branch seized fake cartridges from SAP camp in Peroorkkada.

On one side, the secretary is saying that there is nothing wrong in the functioning of the police department while on the other side, Crime Branch which is under the Home department has found such a big fraudulence. So what value does the report hold? It should be thrown in trash, he further said.

Home Secretary’s report can be viewed only as an unfruitful effort to save government from the present crisis. It can be said that secretary wrote what CM said. Those claims in the report was already rejected by CAG, he added.

CAG had sought explanation from Home department on the irregularities in purchase and missing rifles and cartridges. The final report was prepared by CAG after discussions in which Home Secretary also attended. Even then they are trying to escape with the same rejected claims, Chennithala added.

Home Secretary is much a part of the government and hence accused. So it is very strange that an accused person has probed and prepared report on the matter, he further stated.
