Thiruvananthapuram: The Home Department has amended the order issued by DGP Loknath Behera regarding the appointment of the assistant commandants in the armed force. The DGP had appointed five assistant commandants in contrast to the government decision. Pointing out this as a violation of service rules, all the five officers have been called back.

The order in this regard was issued on July 27. Inspectors were promoted as commandants and appointed in various places. But the DGP changed this order and appointed the officials in the places according to their convenience. This move is corrected by the home department now.

According to the Service Act Rule 32 B, the government has the power to take decision regarding the appointment of officers. But the DGP took action violating this rule as mentioned in the order of the home department.
