Thiruvananthapuram: The home department has decided to take strict action against police officers having goonda links. The department has ordered action against two DySPs in Thiruvananthapuram. The move comes as a list of officers, who had committed illegal activities, is being prepared at the police headquarters. Goonda attacks have increased in the state capital in recent days.

The special branch and the intelligence had submitted a report to the home department regarding police-goonda links six months ago.

There were allegations that while police were planning action against goondas, the information was getting leaked to the goons. The home department decided to take strict action against the officers included in the intelligence report. Considering this situation, the department has issued the directive to take action against two DySPs based on the special branch report.

The real estate links of police officers are also being investigated. The government had taken action against four CIs and one SI, the previous day over goonda links.
