Vadakara: The police once again recorded the statement of the 13-year-old schoolgirl, who was allegedly hired as a drug carrier, on the drug menace incident in Azhiyoor, Kozhikode.

Information was gathered from the girl via counselling. In addition, the police are also recording the statements of the doctor who treated the girl, her parents, teachers and other students. Further action will be taken after detailed investigation of the statements.

Meanwhile, the police are also collecting the CCTV footage from the mall in Thalassery where the girl is said to have carried the drugs.

The investigation of the case has been handed over to a special team led by Vadakara DySP R Hariprasad.

Upon the direction of Excise Minister MB Rajesh, the excise department has also intensified probe into the incident. Several officers, including excise deputy commissioner V Rajendran and excise IB assistant commissioner Y Vishnu, arrived at the spot and gathered information.

Earlier, a POCSO case was registered against an Azhiyoor native on the basis of the girl’s statement. However, no case was registered regarding sale of drugs.

Reportedly, the girl had revealed about being used as a carrier of synthetic drugs by psychoactive drug sellers in Azhiyoor, the other day.

She disclosed the activities of the drug mafia prevalent in the area after school authorities caught students under suspicious circumstances.
