Himaval Bhadrananda alleges unlawful confinement
Thiruvananthapuram: Spiritualist Himaval Bhadrananda, who was arrested during the protest staged by Jishnu Pranoy’s kin in front of the police headquarters last week, has alleged unlawful confinement.
He was talking to media persons in front of Poojappura Central prison on Tuesday after getting out on bail.
“I had fixed an appointment with DGP over phone to enquire why police failed to act on the information passed by me about Kochi-based drug cartels and extremists. When I arrived at the spot, I was taken into custody,” Himaval Bhadrananda, who is known as Thokku Swami said.
“I had reached the spot around 10. 30 pm and was having a conversation with a media personnel when the police arrested me. The police did not give a proper explanation. Later I came to know that my arrest was made to strengthen the case,” he said.
“Though Kerala police failed to take my information at face value, the Centre nabbed extremists based on it,” he claimed.
“Though the rural police provided me security, the commissioner was reluctant to extent the same in the city limits. In this regard, I wanted to register a complaint with the DGP and Home department. The DGP had allowed me to visit him between 11 am and 12 pm. If needed, my phone records can be checked,” he added.
