Kottayam: The University Employees Association submitted a petition to the Chief Minister seeking a Crime Branch or Special Investigation team to investigate the case where degree certificate forms went missing from Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) here.

The association alleged that there was no progress in the police investigation and that they suspected a conspiracy to demean the university and the government.

On June 21, 54 certificate forms from the PD-5 section of the Pariksha Bhavan of MGU. Gandhinagar police registered a case on July 3 following a complaint by the university and recorded the statements of the employees of that section. However, the investigation did not proceed beyond that. A probe by the syndicate sub-committee is also underway.
