High Court grants additional time for investigation in actress assault case

Kochi: Kerala High Court granted additional time for the further investigation of the actress assault case against the actor Dileep. One and a half months is the extended period of time allowed for the investigation.

Prosecution had requested for extra time when the additional period granted for submitting the investigation report in the trial court ended on May 30. The prosecution requested more time for a forensic examination in view of the change in hash value of the memory card with the visuals of the assault submitted at the trial court. The inspections of the digital evidence procured lately is also underway, pointed out the prosecution in High Court.

The accused Dileep alleged that the prosecution's intention is only to extend the trial. The defense lawyer argued that the police aim to somehow take the mobile phones under custody and establish as they have obtained the visuals.
