Kahangad: `Hey Auto’, the mobile application for booking auto services, will be introduced in Kahangad soon. This project was made operational in Kozhikode and Ernakulam earlier. The app will perform like Uber taxi and was developed by K P Hussain, Ansar, Hafisullah and Yusuf Fahad. Telus Mobility Solutions was instrumental in bringing out this app.

Discussions are going on with the respective local self government to introduce the app in major metro cities and as part of trial run, over 500 auto drivers in Kahangad will be educated about the app, said the company’s general manager K Rathanakaran.

Municipality chairman V V Ramesan said the app will function within one month. When an online request for auto is booked, the driver will be able to locate the customer and the app will give the destination place and the rate.

However, auto drivers said they are not sure how well the Hey Auto app will be received. So they did not take part in the evaluation meet held on Saturday. But the local government chairperson V V Ramesan said that there needs to be no apprehension and when a person gets out of his home, an auto would be waiting outside his gate which would make private vehicles keep off roads. The drivers will be benefitted by this app and the number of services too will be increased, the chairperson said.
