Helicopter journey: CPM to save face by paying money
Thiruvananthapuram: After Chief Minister’s controversial helicopter journey, now CPM is trying to save its face by paying the expense for the journey. It is known that Rs 8 lakh spent for the helicopter safari will be paid from the party fund. CPM State Secretariat Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told Mathrubhumi News that the final decision in this regard will be taken at the secretariat meet on Thursday.
In the backdrop of the controversy, the party will decide on further actions, he said. His response indicates that the party will decide to fund the journey. The decision to spend money for the journey from the public treasury has raised different opinions.
Earlier, Mathrubhumi News had broken the story on government’s order to spend money for Chief Minister’s to and fro helicopter journey from Thrissur to Thiruvananthapuram after CPM Thrissur district meet, from the Ockhi disaster relief fund. After it sparked controversy, the order was withdrawn.
