Kozhikode: Vigilance will investigate if the government officials facilitate the heavy vehicles to carry excess load after receiving bribes.
Inspections are mandatory at the checkposts in the state’s borders. Besides this, special squads of the GST department and Motor Vehicle Department are deployed to inspect the goods carrying trucks. However, the Vigilance reported that the inspections are unsatisfactory.
Serious lapses were found in the raids conducted under Vigilance range SP Prajeesh Thottathil at 5 districts here. The Vigilance team took action against 94 vehicles which carried excess load. Though a Rs 40 lakh fine was slapped against the vehicles, only Rs 20 lakh has been received. Vigilance has demanded to pay the remaining amount immediately. Allegations are being raised against the officials who abstain from taking action against similar cases.
