Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in Kerala on Monday. Orange alert was sounded in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kannur districts.
Heavy rain is continuing in the state due to a new depression that has formed in the Bay of Bengal, said K. Santhosh, director, IMD Thiruvananthapuram.
The depression had formed near the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coast. The intensity of the rain and speed of winds are expected to decrease by Tuesday. The ban on fishing in the state has been extended to Monday.
