Thiruvananthapuram: India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for nine districts in Kerala on Monday in view of the continuing heavy rainfall in the state. IMD has predicted torrential rainfall in the hilly regions.
Yellow alert has been sounded for Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod on Monday.
IMD forecast heavy rain and sounded yellow alert in 13 districts except Kasaragod on Tuesday, and in 13 districts except Palakkad on Wednesday. The authorities prohibited fishing till September 1 in the coasts of Kerala and Lakshadweep.
