Heavy rain to lash Kerala till Thursday
Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in various districts of Kerala till Friday.
It is assumed that light rains will lash the state on Tuesday. At the same time, various districts will receive heavy rainfall from Wednesday to Thursday. In view of this, IMD has sounded yellow alert in respective districts. Usually, IMD issues a yellow alert to districts which will receive rainfall measuring 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm.
Yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Malappuram on Wednesday. At the same time, IMD declared yellow alert for Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod and Lakshadweep on Thursday.
A cyclonic circulation formed over the South East Arabian sea in Andhra coast has resulted in the heavy rains.
Meanwhile, a deep depression over Arabain sea in Gujarat coast has intensified into a cyclonic storm Hikka. The cyclonic storm will reach Oman Coast by Wednesday.
However, IMD stated that the deep depression in Gujarat coast will not affect Kerala coast. Hence, fishermen are not restricted from venturing into sea.
