Heavy rain to continue in Kerala, IMD sounds orange alert in 4 districts
Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rain will continue to lash across Kerala till Sunday. Indian Meterological Department has sounded orange alert in four northern districts on Thursday. Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur district were placed under orange alert on Thursday.
It is alerted that these districts will receive 20.4 cm rain within 24 hours. Kerala Disaster Management Authority has alerted the public here to stay vigilant. Meanwhile, the ban on fishing due to bad weather is continuing in the state.
IMD has forecast that strong wind speed reaching 45 to 55 km per hour is likely over Kerala coast, Karnataka coast and Lakshadweep.
IMD has issued yellow alert in various districts of Kerala from Thursday to Sunday.
