Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that heavy rains can be expected in Kerala till July 17. Yellow and orange alerts have been issued in different districts.
IMD has issued orange alert for Idukki on July 13. Heavy or very heavy rains is predicted.
Districts for which IMD has issued yellow alert are as follows:
July 13: Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod.
July 14: Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod.
July 15: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod.
July 16: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod.
July 17: Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod.
As heavy rains are expected, IMD has also cautioned the residents near low-lying areas, river banks and landslide-mudflow prone hilly regions that have already received high rain fall on the previous days.
