Heavy rain likely in Kerala from Friday, Orange alert in 6 districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain across Kerala from June 11 to 15 due to the impact of a low-pressure area that is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal.

In view of the forecast, the IMD has issued an Orange alert in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on June 11, Friday.

The low-pressure area which is expected to form on Friday will intensify and move towards Odisha, Jharkhand and Chattisgarh within 3 days.

Districts except Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur and Palakkad were placed under yellow alert on Friday. Meanwhile, a yellow alert sounded in all districts except Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday.
