Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain till July 15. With this, the India Meteorological Department sounded orange and yellow alerts in various districts for next 5 days.
Orange alert
July 11 –Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
July 12 – Idukki, Kannur, Kasaragod
Orange alert means very heavy rain from 6 cm to 20 cm.
Yellow alert
July 11-Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad
July 12- Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad

Yellow alert is sounded in these districts as expecting heavy rainfall between 6 cm to 11 cm.
People residing in low lying areas, river banks and hilly areas prone to mudslide and landslide are advised to stay vigilant, alerted IMD.
Strong winds with speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph and gusting to 65 kmph likely over Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coast. Hence, fishermen are advised not to venture the sea on these coasts, reads the press release issued by IMD.
