‘People on banks of Chalakudy river who were affected by 2018 floods must move to safer places’

Thrissur: The Thrissur collector has asked the people living on the banks of the Chalakudy river to move to safer places immediately as the fourth shutter of the Peringalkuthu dam is opened.

"Those who were affected in 2018 floods must immediately move to safer places," said Haritha V Kumar IAS on a Facebook post.

Besides, Parambikulam dam is also releasing water.

The IMD has sounded a red alert in Thrissur district for Thursday.

Rivers in Pathanamthitta and Idukki are also overflowing.
