Heavy rain in Kochi; Rail, road transportation affected
Kochi: Rain continues to pour down heavily in southern and central Kerala. Owing to the heavy rains in the district, many roads are inundated. The water logging is severe in M.G. Road, south railway station, Kaloor bus stand and in Kaloor stadium. Buses are the only mode of commutation through some of these areas.
Many shops situated in M.G. Road are under water. Ernakulam district has been witnessing heavy rains since Sunday morning.
Trains are also held up at different stations in the district as Ernakulam South railway station is inundated. 12076 Jan Shatabdi Express is short terminated at Alappuzha, 16127 Guruvayur Express is short terminated at Ernakulam Jn, 12678 Bengaluru Intercity is rescheduled to leave Ernakulam Jn at 11:30 am and 12617 Mangala Express is rescheduled at 13:00 hrs.
The heavy rains have affected the by-election as well. The polling booths have been relocated in 2 areas.
Residents of Kochi P and G colony and Chullikkal areas are being relocated due to water logging.
