Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department has alerted that heavy rain will lash Kerala in the next two days. Following this, a yellow alert has been sounded in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Sunday.
The yellow alert will continue in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod on Monday also.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea due to the bad weather.
IMD has forecast that Kerala will receive rainfall from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 days.
The Kerala Disaster Management Authority alerted the people who are residing in the areas prone to landslide and mudslide and dwellers near river and sea to stay vigilant.
IMD directed fishermen in Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts not to venture into sea on Sunday and Monday.
