Heavy rain: 36 people shifted to relief camps in Ernakulam
Ernakulam: As heavy rain and strong winds continue to lash across the state, 36 people were evacuated to four relief camps in Ernakulam district. 3 relief camps were opened in Kochi taluk and one opened at Kanayannur taluk in the district. The district authority has taken the action after IMD sounded a red alert in the district as rain and wind intensified.
Meanwhile, an emergency meeting chaired by the district medical officer reviewed the present situation in the district. District programme officers, Rapid Response Team, Surveillance Unit and health superintendents attended the meeting.
A total of 6 men, 16 women and 14 children from 8 families are housed in the relief camps in the district.
Eight people including three men, three women and children from two families are shifted to the relief camp opened at Chellanam St. Mary’s High School.
Another relief camp was opened at Kandakkadavu St. Xavier’s Public School. Five members from a family are housed here.
15 people from six families including one man, eight women and six children are shifted to the relief camp at Nayarambalam Devivilasam High School.
At the same time, eight people including one man, four women and three children are shifted to the relief camp at Kadavanthra Kendriya Vidyalaya.
