Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Minister for Health Veena George visited former chief minister Oommen Chandy, who has been admitted at NIMS Hospital in Neyyattinkara after experiencing fever, and difficulty in breathing. The minister arrived at the hospital on Tuesday morning.
Minister said that she had visited Ommen Chandy as per the direction of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. On Monday, CM had contacted Oommen Chandy’s son Chandy Oommen and enquired regarding the health condition of the veteran Congress leader.
The minister said that she met Oomen Chandy’s daughter and the doctors who are in charge of his treatment. A team under Dr Manju has been entrusted with Oommen Chandy's treatment, she added.

Oommen Chandy's brother and some other relatives had approached the CM and the health minister alleging that there had been an inordinate delay in continuing the treatment of the former CM for his cancer. However, the veteran Congress leader and his son denied the allegation and expressed their anguish in the controversy.
