Health minister Veena George turns good Samaritan for accident victims at night

Thiruvananthapuram: A family met with a road accident here on Friday had a good Samaritan, health minister Veena George. She not only rushed the injured family members to General Hospital in her official vehicle, but also intimated the hospital administration to ensure emergency medical care for them.

The incident happened around 9:45 PM near VJT hall in Palayam. Peyad native Anu, his wife Athira, their children and Anu’s brother’s children were on a bike enjoying the Onam festive scenes in the city. Another bike collided with their bike, toppling them. They all fell from the vehicle. Athira’s leg got injured.

The health minister who was passing by happened to see the family’s plight and stopped her vehicle. She informed the matter to police. The minister realised that there was a traffic jam on the road due to Onam rush and the ambulance will take time to reach there. She took Athira and others in her vehicle to the hospital.
