Thiruvananthapuram: Health minister Veena George said that 14,25,150 doses of Covishield vaccine has been allotted for the state. Among this, 3,27,810 doses are allotted for Thiruvananthapuram, 8,38,130 doses for Ernakulam and 2,59,210 doses for Kozhikode. Vaccination drive will be organised as the distribution of the new doses to various districts is completed, the minister informed.
The first dose vaccination in the state is nearing 80 percent. 79.5 percent of the adult population were given the first dose and 31.52 percent received both doses. Adding both first and second doses, over 3 crore doses of vaccine have been administered so far, the minister added.
The government is planning to vaccinate all above 18 years by the end of this month. The college students who are yet to get inoculated should contact the health workers immediately. Vaccination can help reduce chances of fatalities and hospitalisation, she stated.
