Thiruvananthapuram: Health minister Veena George said that there are murky attempts to undermine the Covid resistance activities in the state. In an article written in the mouthpiece of the CPM, the minister criticised that certain people and media are also trying hard to drag the government’s name into the dirt by stating Kerala’s downfall.
The minister said in the article that such people are not trying to help the Covid resistance activities, but are trying to sabotage the same. It has been found that Kerala is the state that reports the number of patients accurately.
The studies revealed that only 1 in 100 or 1 in 120 cases are reported in some states. The national average is 1 in 33 cases. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that 1 in 6 cases are reported in Kerala, the minister pointed out in her article.
Kerala tops in the country when it comes to the number of Covid tests conducted for every one million people. Ensuring the right treatment is as important as tracing the infected people and people who are at risk of infection, she added.
The number of hospital beds, ICUs, ventilators, safety instruments, and oxygen availability has been increased in the state. The minister also stated in the article that the preparations to face the third wave of Covid have also started early.
