Health dept officials seize 200 kg rotten meat from central market
Kozhikode: Corporation health department seized 200 kg of rotten meat with worms lurking on it, in a raid held in the central market. Mutton and chicken parts were seized in the raid.
The rotten meat was seized from six shops in the market. Parts of chicken and beef and stale pieces of big fish were kept in the boxes there. They kept fresh meat in the boxes on top and hid the stale meat in the bottom.
The meat was seized from shops owned by K.K. Safeer, N.V. Rafi, K.P. Abdul Latheef, N.V. Moideen and Rasheed. Health department officials informed that the license of two shops will be cancelled and other shops will be charged with penalty.
Illegal encroachments were detected and removed in the raid. Some shops had placed their goods outside the shops, which the officials evacuated.
The inspecting team was headed by corporation health officer Dr. G. S. Gopakumar. Health supervisor T.K. Mohanan, veterinary surgeon Sreeshma, Health inspector K. P. Rameshan, junior health inspectors V. K. Pramod, and P. P. Prakashan were also part of the team.
