Health dept fails to confirm COVID death; Dials to enquire deceased man’s health condition thrice
Thiruvananthapuram: The health department called three times to find out the health condition of a COVID patient without knowing about his death. The health information of Anil Kumar from Pothencode Panimoola who succumbed to COVID was sought thrice by the health officials. This incident has taken place in the middle of the ongoing controversy over COVID-19 deaths.
Anil died while undergoing treatment for COVID-19. But his name is not added to the list of COVID deaths in Kerala.
It is reported that his relatives have no records to prove his death was due to the COVID-19. But it is confirmed that Anil was COVID positive when he breathed his last.
Anil Kumar was first tested positive on April 28. He was admitted to the hospital with a severe cough due to a low oxygen level in his blood. As his health worsened, he was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. But he passed away on May 6.
His family is sure that the death was due to COVID-19.
His death is not included in the list of COVID deaths. I received three phone calls from the health department inquiring about his health condition, says his wife Maya.
