The opposition had stated this earlier and the high court verdict has now proved it right. Jaleel resigned as he was sure that he would not get a favourable verdict from the high court, Chennithala added.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala stated that the high court verdict against KT Jaleel, who engaged in nepotism and abuse of power, was a slap in the face of the CPM and the chief minister who protected him.

Jaleel resigned his ministerial post not because of his moral values but as he had no other choice. The opposition had stated this earlier and the high court verdict has now proved it right. Jaleel resigned as he was sure that he would not get a favourable verdict from the high court, Chennithala added.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is a co-accused in nepotism case. It was the CM who relaxed the eligibility rules of general manager post in Minority Development and Finance Corporation in order to appoint Jaleel’s relative, Chennithala alleged.

The CM relaxed the rules surpassing the cabinet. So, the high court verdict is also a charge sheet against the chief minister. If there is some ethical values left in him, he should not continue in the post, the opposition leader demanded.
