HC stays move to make temporary staff permanent in Calicut University

Earlier, the High Court single bench did not agree to stay the decision taken by the syndicate board. Following this, an appeal challenging this verdict was filed in the Court.

Kochi: The High Court has stayed the move to make permanent the temporary employees of Calicut University. The court informed that if the University has made someone permanent, they should continue as temporary employees.

Earlier, the High Court single bench had refused to stay the decision taken by the Syndicate. Following this, an appeal challenging this verdict was filed and the division bench issued stayed it.

Calicut University Syndicate had decided to make 35 daily wage employees permanent without reporting the vacancies to the PSC. Those employees who worked for more than 10 years on contract and daily wage basis were made permanent.

The division bench of the High Court stated that the decision to make temporary employees permanent is a violation of the Supreme Court order. The petitioners argued that the syndicate did not abide by he rules while taking the decision.
