Kochi: The High Court has sought an explanation from the Kerala government in connection with the stopping of audit procedures in local self-government bodies.
The audit department stopped audit procedures in self-government bodies as per the instruction from its director. Ramesh Chennithala had approached the High Court questioning this action.
Chennithala alleged that the audit in local self-government bodies was stopped to cover up corruption and demanded that it should be reinstated. The High Court sought explanation from the government in this petition.
The government will have to explain in court why the audit was stopped. The court will consider the petition again on Tuesday.
