Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Monday rejected the appeal filed by PJ Jospeh against its earlier verdict allotting the ‘two leaves’ symbol to Kerala Congress (M) Jose K Mani faction. The division bench of the HC upheld the single bench verdict which had in turn upheld the decision of the Election Commission. Joseph had filed an appeal against the HC order.
HC on Monday observed that it can’t intervene in the decision of the Election Commission. The party name Kerala Congress (M) and symbol of two leaves belong to Jose K Mani faction, it further noted.
Following this, Jose reacted that the HC order imparts a lot of strength to his party.
The HC single bench had pronounced its verdict before the local body elections. Following this, Jose K Mani faction had contested the polls using the two leaves symbol.
Now, the HC division bench verdict comes ahead of the Assembly polls.
