Kochi: Following its order to dismiss empanelled conductors, the High Court on Monday ordered the dismissal of 1,565 empanelled drivers in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).
The division bench ordered the dismissal of 1,565 empanelled drivers and sought appointment of new drivers from PSC rank list. The HC has directed to implement the order by April 30.
Earlier, PSC rank listed drivers had approached the HC seeking the dismissal of empanelled drivers in KSRTC and appointments for them.
Earlier, KSRTC had delayed implementing the HC order to dismiss empanelled conductors. Following this, the HC took a strong stand on the matter and issued a deadline to KSRTC. As per the order, all the empanelled conductors were dismissed and PSC rank listed candidates were appointed in their place.
Meanwhile, it is learned that the state government would file an appeal against the new HC order. Empanelled Samara Samiti leader Dinesh Babu said the move would cause huge loss to KSRTC. He added that the government’s irresponsibility led KSRTC to its current state.
